Please understand that this website is a hobby, which means that I do this in my spare time and am not paid in any way to maintain this site. I am blessed to have nearly a thousand visitors a week, which means I receive about twenty emails a day. I try to respond to every email, but sometimes I just can't; or at the very least, it might take awhile!
I want you to have your questions answered as quickly as possible; therefore I created this page to try to help you. I do want to help you on your path; so if you do not find your answer here or in the website, then please feel free to email me.

How do I start a career in event planning?
I hate to be so blunt, but, ummm, the answer to this is too long to answer in an email, and that is why I created this website!!!!
Seriously. If I could answer that question in just a sentence or two, then there would be no need for this website. Admittedly, there are a million more topics that I need to address on the site, and I am constantly trying to add more information.
Therefore, I also have a weekly newsletter, in which I go into these topics in much more detail. It is free, I will not send you spam, I will not sell or give out your information, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

I realize this takes time, but your career will reflect the time you are willing to invest in it. If you want an instantaneous, overnight easy answer, then that's what you'll get (in other words, "no"). If, on the other hand, you're willing to do the research, and take the time to learn everything you can about this industry, and take the steps that I recommend in this site, then someday soon you'll find yourself starting your dream career!
One of the most common questions I get asked is if I can recommend a school or online certification. Unfortunately, I can't personally recommend any schools; if you think about it, that would imply that I personally have attended every single school or course out there!
The "Event Planning Schools" page (click on the above question for the link) lists a few universities and online courses that I have researched and appear to provide quality courses, or ones that have been referred to me by someone who has attended them.
What I do recommend is this:
First and foremost, realize that in this industry, experience and contacts are going to get you a job far more quickly than any schooling! I can't emphasize this enough. For more, be sure to visit the

If you find a school or online course that you are interested in, do your research first! Realize that there are many courses out there that just want your money. See if it seems like a qualified company, and ask for references.
And, again, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, do everything you can to first get experience and contacts. Read through this website, in particular the "Career Planning" page and all of its links.
The single best way to learn about the industry is to get hands-on experience; and you can do this by volunteering (for more, visit the
Career Planning page).

No, I do not have any openings in my company. Since job openings change by the day, I can not tell you each day who has job openings.
